"Processing Modalities: A New Approach to Organizing & Coaching"

Presented by Denslow Brown, MCC, CPO, CPO-CD

This 3 hour workshop will discuss how organizers and coaches can use processing modalities (PM) to help clients that struggle with disorganization. The nine different modalities will be introduced with a description of how to evaluate them as well as a discussion of actual client examples. About Denslow Brown:

Denslow Brown, CPO, CPO-CD is a professional organizer, mentor, ADD coach and trainer. Her client specialties are adults with ADD and organizers and coaches in transitions. Denslow started her own business as a professional organizer in 1974, isolated from others who were simultaneously inventing the profession. She was active in NAPO (National Association of Professional Organizers) from its inception. She served on its national board of directors, edited its newsletter and conceived of and spent a decade chairing its Quantum Leap Task Force. This program supports organizers who volunteer in their communities to teach organizing skills to people in stressful, life-changing transitions. Its members trained thousands of people under her leadership. Denslow was honored with NAPO’s President’s Award in 2001 and its Founders’ Award in 2009.

She was also active in the National Study Group on Chronic Disorganization from its beginning and has for many years been active in its training and certification programs. She is a frequent presenter at NAPO and ADD conferences. She is also a principal in the diversity efforts of Children and Adults with ADD (CHADD).

Founder of the Coach Approach for Organizers training program, she has established the Certified Organizer Coach credential through the Institute of Applied Coaching.

Testimonial:

"You may be highly visual. But is your client? How can you tell if your client is predominantly using his/her auditory, visual, or cognitive modality to work with you? What if the client is highly auditory and you’re not? How do you respond with language, skills and products so that your collaboration is effective for the client, the organizing skills and systems are in tune with how he/she processes, and the skills persist?

Processing Modalities are the particular ways individuals receive, interpret and express information or stimulation. Each modality is a function of specialized parts of the body, including specialized parts of the brain, and each of us has inherited strengths and weaknesses in these specialized parts. Throughout our lifetime, these body parts will have been developed and/or weakened.

Processing Modalities: A New Approach to Organizing and Coaching will discuss how organizers and coaches can use their knowledge of processing modalities to help clients that struggle with disorganization. The nine different modalities will be introduced, along with a description of how to evaluate them, as well as a discussion of actual client examples. Guidelines will be shared on how to have modality conversations with clients and how to create organizing solutions for clients based on their modality preferences. Come learn more about this highly effective new approach!"
